History: He was born in Arcadia 421 years ago. A Noble and Prosperous land stuffed between lush landscapes and rolling hills, which became a political slave to Damascus, An Empire whose Fist was said to have cracked even the hardest of lands. Damascus used Arcadia as a military district, to fight in their wars and affairs. This came after a 500 year war with the world pitted against an evil force berthed from the womb of man’s own evil heart, known as “Leos”, those demons were banished quite some time ago. They struck a cord on the harp of death, killing anyone or anything that was not protected leaving many countries to become city-states and fend for themselves. One man sought out to unite world and rid It of its evil parasite, and he succeeded. That was “Rovan”, or at least that’s what we call him, Today his name has lost its luster. People prefer new, younger heroes, Not many people care about the past anymore. Peace ruled for many years and life was good, many nations became rich and strong, but Damascus was blood-thirsty and sought power not riches, so in a false alliance it captured Arcadia. Arcadia was however made up of the toughest warriors in the world, But Damascus’ armies were far too big, and they would destroy Arcadia at the site of rebellion. But Damascus knew if Arcadia was ever united the losses would be catastrophic, so they sent Arcadians on suicide missions, constantly sending them on the front lines to kill hordes of monsters in the Vanerian Forest, a wicked place where sin grows instead of flowers, and where many go and never return. Its name still haunts Rovan.
Rovan was the son of a great swordsman. His father passed when he was young and his mother left him. He was taken in by a smith, who cared for him until he died, then Rovan left to live on his own. He carries a necklace called the Sol Trinket, which the smith made for him, around his neck. It’s a model of the sun and its rays. One day he was sent out to kill a hive of “Leos” with a squad of Arcadian fighters to the Vanerian Forest. With many losses, the job was done, out of 12, only 4 survived, they wanted to return home, but were captured and thrown into jail. Arcadia was rebelling against Damascus, in retaliation all Arcadians were set to be captured and executed. Rovan escaped however, although he wanted to help. He was only 14 when all this happened. However, they make him flee, He and his friends head to sea but are caught in a massive storm, After it settled they woke up on the shores of Llyr, a small country in the western hemisphere. They wander for weeks and finally find shelter in a monastery. They were gladly taken in, All but Rovan left to restart their lives, Rovan was interested with the religious way of life, He also wanted to repay for the evil sins that he committed over many years. He grew a connection with the Head Abbot, Shinamori. He treated him like his son. Oddly, he trained in the art of being a swordsman, hand to hand combat, magic, smithing, literature, taught him how to read and write, to tame animals, and even cook. Shinamori became Rovan’s idol. Little did he know Shinamori was a nobleman, So when Rovan became his son, He was to be trained to become a Knight Of Llyr. Rovan was happy for many years, He became a famous knight in only 5 years, at the age of 19, His skills were adamant, he was a gentlemen and respected everyone, he was also a prime role model to many young men. And now he finally had a last name, Shinebright. After all he was Shinamori’s son. For 2 years he lived in pure happiness, he fell in love with a woman named Elena. They were the happiest of couples. On his 21st birthday, Shinamori and Elena bought him an epic poem called “LOVELESS”, which to this day he carries. But three days later, Shinamori died of old age, and suddenly Rovan’s whole life changed. As it turned out Shinamori was actually the true King of Llyr, the king that Rovan came to know was only a temporary one, and many people foresaw that Shinamori was not live long so they placed a younger man to rule as temporary king. This meant, as Shinamori’s only “son”, that Rovan was to become Llyr’s youngest king. He knew he was young and naïve, But many people saw him as a wise young man, righteous, and great for the position as King of all of Llyr, he was also a great warrior, there was no doubt he would be great. However, Valkaria, a neighboring country, decided to attack Llyr while it was going through a confusing transfer of power. Llyr was no match for Valkaria, but Rovan would not let Llyr burn in flames, his valor inspired all of Llyr’s soldiers, many people would describe Llyr’s rebuttal as romantic and epic. Llyrian soldiers would gladly fall on their swords for Rovan, and because of their glorious valor and might, Llyr had invaded Valkaria’s capital in only 6 months; Thus beginning the Siege of Phoenix. Rovan joined the frontlines, letting his army know that there was nothing to fear, Llyr would once again be known as a superpower. In the battlefield however, Rovan was separated and met the Queen Of Valkaria on the battlefield, a hideous witch, they battled for hours until Rovan was going to issue a deathblow when she cursed him. She told him if he died he would be trapped in hell forever, and that he would live forever, wanting to die. Believing she was a crazy old hag, he struck his sword into her heart. Only to realize that his scars were healing. Phoenix was captured, and all of Llyr was in cheer. But, Rovan, knowing he has become and enemy to Valkaria and their enemies, decided that it would be best if he left the throne, he was too young to be doing a man’s job, he said. Llyrians praised his judgment, and the Council Of Llyr told him, “Once a King of Llyr, Always a King.” This meant, to avoid violence, he had to say goodbye to Elena, only to realize that when he was away in war, She was killed by a Valkarian foot soldier. His whole life was a living hell now, mourning the loss of everyone he loved, he was doomed to wonder the Earth, never growing old, awaiting a death that would never come, And to die only by a deathblow to the heart. For the rest of his days he would wonder the world. This was 399 years ago. That day he hid on a boat and awoke on undiscovered lands, no one knew of Arcadia, Llyr, or even Damascus, he could of even been on a whole new world. In one sense he was glad, a new start to life, and maybe there would be a way to break his curse. For the next 399 years he would wander this new world, living forever, doomed to break his curse, getting work as a mercenary and mourning his lost love Elena. Some might even say the epic poem “LOVELESS” was written about him! One good thing came out of this however; he met his friend Eros on the battlefield, and although he fell on the battlefield, Rovan did not want to lose another friend, and the only way to save him was to use a spell to transfer his soul to the nearest animal, and that animal, was an arctic fox.
Together, these two doomed and cursed souls, will wonder the earth as legends of a lost age.
