Name: Rykoyo
Nickname:
Gender: Male
Age: 26; appears 18
Height: 5'11
Weight: 150 lbs.
Hair: His hair is a solid shade of blue. It always seems to be in a state of mild disarray, a kind of bedhead style that actually complements him pretty well.
Eyes: Deep and expressive, his eyes are a warm golden amber seemingly lit from within.
Clothes: He wears a sleeveless tunic colored a soft blue that has the rune of wind embroidered in a silky silver thread on the front. The tunic is made from an extremely light, but quite strong, material. For sleeves, he wears under his tunic a pristine white shirt, with sleeves that flare out rather like his pants and pull into a cuff at his wrists. He wears navy blue pants that are loose and baggy, drawing together into a cuff above his ankles. He wears a pair of sky blue foot wraps. His pack is usually slung over his right shoulder. It's made of supple, completely unadorned, plain leather. It is styled conservatively, almost like a messenger bag, with a simple silver chest clasp holding the flap shut. He wears another strap of leather on his left shoulder. It is positioned in such a way as to meet at the precise center of the tunic's back. Where they meet, there is a cup of leather with a small hole at its bottom. Rykoyo uses this cup of leather to hold his staff and free up his hands.
Personality: Generally, he keeps to himself and does not actively seek out social contact. Maybe it's because whenever he does happen to meet someone, his true colors show through. In the company of others, he ranges from being friendly (to the point of excess) and a tad eccentric to peevish and sharp-tongued. He does not trust people very easily, but when he does, he shows his best to them and his worst to their foes. He's as unpredictable as the air itself and small wonder, for it is the air itself that he has mastered.
Relationships: By a chance meeting in Hollow Mist, he's become a close friend and a sort of bodyguard to Lady Riho Yamazaki.
History: There is little to be told, for his years, as yet, are few. From an early age, he was always footloose, as youngsters are wont to be anyway. His childhood was a happy one, but his parents, while loving, were away often. As a result, he never really lost the drive to explore. He learned to take care of himself early on and how to enjoy his own company, but never how to behave in the company of others.
During his teen years, little changed, but he returned home less often as his wanderings took him further and further away. Then one summer day in his 14th year, he stumbled upon a secluded settlement of most remarkable people. Each person, one and all, save for the very youngest, could manipulate or were learning to manipulate one of the fundamental elements of nature. Intrigued, he hid himself and watched as a group of young children were taught the basics of elemental bending: Finding your element. Needless to say, his presence did not go as unnoticed as he thought it did. The air brought word of his arrival as he disturbed its flow around the settlement. The plants betrayed his hiding place among them. Nonetheless, settlers seemed content to leave him be, for he harmed no one and besides, they reasoned, what could he do? As it turns out, a great deal. Since the lesson was aimed at small children, he was able to understand very easily and began to follow along. Within a few tries, he found his element: Air. Of course, that's not to say he didn't test himself for the other elements first. In fact, Fire was the first he tried, then Lightning. Neither had much success, although he was able to make a spark or two jump between his hands. Fittingly enough, he never once considered testing himself for Earth or Water. At this point, the instructor called him out of the bushes in which he hid. He was tersely interrogated and sent before the elders, where he was interrogated further. Long story short, he was eventually sent to study the basics of air bending and, after contacting his parents, stayed at the settlement. He quickly found his place there, dropping into his new life with enthusiasm. Needless to say, he was never one to stay bound to a single place. After six years,
Race: Human
Class: Air Elemental Bender
Weapons: A wizard's staff specially suited for melee combat. It doubles as a pole arm. It is made of sturdy white oak wood with a sharp spike of silvery sky blue metal tipping the bottom. A polished stone is mounted on the top. It is unique in that its color shifts from deep navy blue to a rich sky blue as it moves. Clutching the gem is a bronze eagle frozen in the stance of striking its prey: Its wings are outstretched and half folded and its beak is open in a fierce but silent cry. It is the (rather large) beak that makes it a pole arm. Each tip of the beak is viciously hooked and the beak itself has razor sharp edges.
He keeps it holstered these days, since its main purpose is to serve as a focus for his magic. He has come to the point where he does not really need it, having mastered his element enough to bend it unaided by any focus save his own will. Nonetheless, it serves as a great power boost and, should it ever become necessary, he will use it again.
Skills/Spells: [Dead Zone]
This skill is highly adaptable, forming the basis for Rykoyo's main offensive skill. With this skill, he can create and maintain a near perfect vacuum in the air of any size. As such, the mana cost is variable. When this skill is used to its fullest extent, he will direct the vacuum to form around a target or targets, both suffocating and depressurizing them.
[MP Cost: 0.01-all mana]
[Wind's Edge]
This is Rykoyo's primary offensive skill. It is a very small adaptation of his Dead Zone skill, the difference lying in the fact that he forms not an area of vacuum, but a perfectly flat, immensely thin plane, which he generally shapes into everything from a scimitar shape to a needle, as the situation demands, and the fact that he propels it at high speed at his target. It remains as adaptable as its parent skill, being able to take any size and travel in any direction according to Rykoyo's will. It, too, has a variable mana cost.
[MP cost: 1-all mana]
